Quick answer

The 2026 Osaka Amazing Pass has been on sale since 25 March 2026 and is now a mobile QR e-ticket only: 3,500 yen for 1 day and 5,000 yen for 2 consecutive days. It covers Osaka Metro, city buses and some private railway sections, plus free entry to about 40 facilities (one visit each). There is no child pass and JR is not covered. You need three or more paid attractions in a day to break even.

The Osaka Amazing Pass (大阪周遊パス) is an all-in-one transport and attractions pass for Osaka city. The biggest change for 2026 is that it is now a mobile QR e-ticket only, and prices have been adjusted to 3,500 yen for 1 day and 5,000 yen for 2 days. This guide covers the latest prices as of October 2026, the list of free attractions, the usage rules, and how to choose between the 1-day pass, 2-day pass and other tickets, so first-time visitors can decide whether it is worth buying.

Osaka Amazing Pass 2026 Prices: 1-Day, 2-Day and Airport Editions

The short answer: the standard 1-day pass is 3,500 yen and the 2-day pass is 5,000 yen, and both are adult tickets only. According to the official website, the 2026 edition went on sale on 25 March 2026 and is sold until 31 March 2027[1].

Details that are easy to miss:

  • You must start using the pass within 3 months of purchase, and the latest start date is 31 March 2027[2].
  • A day runs from 3:00 a.m. to 2:59 a.m. the next morning. If you press "start using" between midnight and 2:59 a.m., the pass expires when 3:00 a.m. arrives, wasting a day.
  • The Itami Airport edition adds two facilities, including Expo Commemoration Park, and suits people flying through Itami or heading to northern Osaka. Flights from Taiwan mostly land at Kansai Airport, so the standard edition is enough for travelers from Taiwan.
  • The Kansai Airport 28-hour pass is a new ticket introduced on 1 October 2026. Per the official explanation, you can ride from Kansai Airport to Namba, but you cannot ride from the city back to Kansai Airport Station, and you cannot get off at intermediate stations between Kansai Airport and Sakai[2]. It suits people who leave the airport on the afternoon of arrival and finish by noon the next day; the ticket back to the airport is bought separately.

The 2026 Pass Is an E-Ticket: How to Buy and Use It

In short: phone only. From the 2026 edition no paper or magnetic cards are issued. After purchase a QR code appears on your phone, and you scan it at subway gates, when getting off buses and at attractions[2].

How to Buy

  1. Go to the official purchase platform Surutto QRtto (スルッとQRtto) via the buy button on the pass website and pay by credit card. The official FAQ says cash is not accepted[4].
  2. You can buy up to 4 passes per transaction and share them to friends' phones.
  3. Each pass is tied to the first phone that uses it. Opening it on another phone afterward shows "in use on another device", so decide who holds which pass before you share.
  4. On the day of use (after 3:00 a.m.), press "利用開始する" (start using) on the ticket page.
  5. Scan the QR code at QR-compatible gates, show the screen when getting off buses, and show the QR code at attraction entrances.

Besides online, the only over-the-counter sales point listed on the official site is the Kansai Tourist Information Center. KKday and Klook also resell it, and prices may differ slightly, so check that you are buying the 2026 e-ticket version.

What Transport Does the Osaka Amazing Pass Cover? Can I Use It on JR?

In short: it mainly covers Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus, plus some sections of Hankyu, Hanshin, Keihan, Kintetsu and Nankai within Osaka city. JR is not covered. The official "usable lines" page is a route map, so open it before you leave and check that the stations you need are inside the area[1].

The official notes also state[2]:

  • Reserved-seat limited express services on Kintetsu, Nankai, Keihan and Hankyu require a separate express fee.
  • Airport buses are not included.
  • Sections outside the covered area require paying the difference.

So the pass cannot be used to go to Kyoto, Nara or Kobe, nor on the JR Osaka Loop Line or the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal Studios. If your trip is mostly between cities, see the transport suggestions in the Osaka 5-day, 4-night itinerary.

Free Attractions with the Osaka Amazing Pass: 2026 Facility List

In short: the standard edition gives free entry to about 39 facilities (the Itami Airport edition adds 2 more, 41 in total), and each facility can be used once during the validity period, including with the 2-day pass[3]. Below are the facilities visitors use most, grouped by area (checked October 2026):

Closures and restrictions to note in October 2026[3]:

  • OSAKA WHEEL (Itami Airport edition): suspended for maintenance.
  • Osaka Castle Yagura (turret) special opening: only for limited periods, including weekends and public holidays from 5 September to 29 November 2026.
  • "Yorimichi Sunset Cruise" sails only on Fridays and Saturdays in September and October.
  • Daytime sailings of the Santa Maria are suspended from 12 January to 5 February.

Facility status changes often, so check the official facilities page again before you go. For how to enjoy each sight and how long to allow, read the Osaka attractions guide alongside this.

Osaka Amazing Pass 1-Day vs 2-Day: Is It Worth Buying?

In short: if you can fit in three or more paid attractions in one day and travel mostly by subway, the 1-day pass pays off. The 2-day pass averages 2,500 yen a day, so it is easier to break even on, but only if you stay in Osaka city for both consecutive days.

Do the Math

Take Osaka Castle Main Tower: adult admission is 1,200 yen[5], which alone is a third of the 1-day pass. The Osaka subway day pass "Enjoy Eco Card" costs 820 yen on weekdays and 620 yen on weekends and public holidays[6]. If you only ride the subway and enter one attraction in a day, the Enjoy Eco Card or simply an IC card is cheaper.

Your planRecommendation
One day covering Osaka Castle, Umeda Floating Garden, Dotonbori cruise and Tsutenkaku1-day pass is great value
Two consecutive days in Osaka city, 2-3 attractions a day2-day pass is best value
Mostly shopping and eating, only 1 attractionSkip it; use an IC card or Enjoy Eco Card
One day at Universal Studios, Kyoto or NaraDo not use the pass that day
Traveling with elementary school childrenAdults decide by itinerary; buy children's tickets separately

A Classic 1-Day Break-Even Route

  1. 9:00 a.m.: Osaka Castle Main Tower (opens 9:00), then the goza-bune boat or Nishinomaru Garden.
  2. Midday: Take the subway to Umeda and go up the Floating Garden Observatory before 15:00.
  3. Late afternoon: Go to Namba for the Dotonbori river cruise.
  4. Evening: Go up Tsutenkaku in Shinsekai and have kushikatsu.

Admission at full price alone easily exceeds 3,500 yen, and that is before a day of subway fares. The key points are the 15:00 limit at the Floating Garden and saving evening-friendly places such as Tsutenkaku and the cruise for last.

Osaka Amazing Pass for Kids and Common Mistakes

In short: there is no child pass, as the official FAQ states clearly[4]. Families with children can handle it this way:

  • Elementary school children buy a child subway ticket or use a child IC card; the child Enjoy Eco Card is 310 yen on any day[6].
  • Many attractions already have child discounts. For example, Osaka Castle Main Tower is free for junior high school students and younger (bring proof of age on entry; overseas visitors can use a passport)[5].
  • The Tsutenkaku slide and Dive & Walk have height limits, and children of junior high school age or younger cannot ride the goza-bune alone[3].

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming JR is covered: The JR Loop Line to Osakajokoen Station is not valid with the pass. Take the subway to Tanimachi 4-chome or Morinomiya instead.
  • Starting the pass in the middle of the night: The day only changes at 3:00 a.m., so starting too early wastes time.
  • Wanting to visit one attraction twice: Each facility can be used only once.
  • Going to the Floating Garden late in the afternoon: After 15:00 you only get a discount, and the night view costs extra.
  • Phone out of battery or data: If the e-ticket will not open, you cannot get through the gates.

Making It Run Smoothly: Pre-Trip Tips

The pass works best on the one or two days you spend entirely in Osaka city among densely packed sights. If your 5-day plan includes a day at Universal Studios and a day in Kyoto or Nara, buy only a 1-day or 2-day pass to go with your city days and use an IC card on the rest. Check closures on the official facilities page before you leave, schedule the Floating Garden at midday to beat the 15:00 cutoff, and leave Tsutenkaku and Dotonbori for the evening, and you will fill the day and get your money's worth. For what to eat, see the Osaka food guide and fit kushikatsu and takoyaki into your pass route.

FAQ

Is there still a physical Osaka Amazing Pass in 2026?

No. From the 2026 edition only e-tickets are issued: after purchase a QR code appears on your phone and is scanned at gates, on buses and at attractions. If you do not have a smartphone, a companion can buy several passes at once (up to 4 per transaction) and share one to your phone.

Is there a child's Osaka Amazing Pass?

The official FAQ states that no child pass is sold. Elementary school children can use a child subway ticket or child IC card and buy child-price admission where needed. Many attractions are free or cheaper for junior high school students and younger, so families do not necessarily need the pass.

Can I use the Osaka Amazing Pass on JR or to reach Universal Studios?

No. The pass mainly covers Osaka Metro, Osaka City Bus and certain private railway sections within Osaka city. JR lines are not included, and Universal Studios admission is not included either. Trips to USJ, Kyoto and Nara cost extra.

Can I use the 2-day pass on two non-consecutive days?

No, the 2-day pass is for 2 consecutive days. Each day runs from 3:00 a.m. to 2:59 a.m. the next morning, so press "start using" after 3:00 a.m. on the day you use it to avoid wasting time.

Where can I buy the Osaka Amazing Pass, and can I pay in cash?

The official channel is the online platform Surutto QRtto (スルッとQRtto), and the only over-the-counter sales point is the Kansai Tourist Information Center. The official FAQ says credit card only, no cash. KKday, Klook and similar sites also sell it, but check that you are buying the 2026 e-ticket.
